About AJDC

The Australian Journal of Dementia Care (AJDC) is a multidisciplinary journal for all professional staff working with people with dementia in residential aged care homes, hospitals, day units and the community.

The AJDC was established in 2012 and is Australia’s only dementia-specific journal for all those supporting people living with dementia. It is available via subscription and distributed throughout Australia and overseas.

The journal is committed to improving the quality of care provided for people living with dementia by showcasing good practice and keeping readers abreast of developments in dementia care practice, training, research and technology, as well as the latest resources, events, news and views.

The Australian Journal of Dementia Care is grounded firmly in practice and provides relevant, high-quality and well-researched articles with solutions for dementia care settings, written by practitioners, researchers and other experts in the field of dementia care from Australia and around the world.

Meet the Team

The Australian Journal of Dementia Care (AJDC) Editorial Team is based at the University of Wollongong, NSW, Australia, in the offices of Dementia Training Australia. Our team is commited to supporting early-career dementia researchers to build their skills and share their work, as well as including the voices of people living with dementia and those who provide support and care.

The AJDC is published quarterly (January, April, July, October) by the University of Wollongong (UOW) and managed on behalf of UOW by Dementia Training Australia (DTA).

On 21 April 2020 ownership of the Australian Journal of Dementia Care (AJDC) passed from the journal’s founding publisher, Hawker Publications Australia, to the UOW, with DTA as its manager. UOW is a leading centre of dementia excellence in Australia and has been closely involved with the journal since its launch in 2012, via DTA and before that, the UOW-based NSW/ACT Dementia Training Study Centres.
