Be part of Moving Pictures

Moving Pictures, the multi-media project raising awareness of dementia among culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities in Australia, is starting work on developing resources aimed at people from Vietnamese, Spanish, Greek and Italian communities – and is now seeking family carers of people living with dementia and service providers from these communities who may wish to be involved in the process.

Moving Pictures, the multi-media project raising awareness of dementia among culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities in Australia, is starting work on developing resources aimed at people from Vietnamese, Spanish, Greek and Italian communities – and is now seeking family carers of people living with dementia and service providers from these communities who may wish to be involved in the process.

The team is inviting carers and service providers to tell them about their experiences of dementia, care seeking and management, or working with people from culturally diverse communities with dementia, in an in-depth video interview. Interviews will take about 45-60 minutes and the footage will be used in the development of the Moving Pictures films.

Moving Pictures is led by researchers at the National Ageing Research Institute and Curtin University, and has already resulted in 15 short films co-produced with people from Hindi-, Tamil-, Mandarin-, Cantonese- and Arabic-speaking communities (as reported in AJDC Oct/Nov 2019; see p16).

A series of comics about dementia in each language is also available, and the Moving Pictures website has also been redeveloped recently (go to www.movingpictures.org.au).
