Dementia Carers Australia a new website for family, friends

Originally published in AJDC October/November 2019 Vol 8 No 5

The Dementia Reframed project has launched its new website, Dementia Carers Australia, which aims to offer support, ideas and information to family members and friends who are supporting a person with dementia.

The site is a platform for carers to read about other carers’ stories – and to share their own. It also presents information on a wide range of themes: the roller coaster life of a carer, communication, social networks and support, and day-to-day practicalities, as well as links to resources. Some of the site remains in development, with more content promised soon.

The Dementia Reframed project was created by Sydney-based academics Jane Mears and Gaynor Macdonald in 2015 and has been featured in AJDC (Experiences Of Dementia: Stories From Those Who Care, April/May 2019, pp9-11 and Reframing Dementia: The Challenge To Change, Aug/Sep 2018, pp22-23).
