Honours for Dementia Australia

Dementia Australia has received the honour of being included in the 2020 AFR Boss Most Innovative Companies list – for its free tablet app, A Better Visit™.

The organisation has been listed within the top 10 innovative companies in the government, education and not-for-profit sector.

Dementia Australia CEO Maree McCabe said it was an honour to be recognised for the app which was designed to help families enjoy ‘a better visit’ with loved ones living with dementia. Dementia Australia says the app has been downloaded more than 6000 times in Australia and globally.

Dementia Australia has also won a Victoria iAward jointly with Deakin University’s Applied Artificial Intelligence Institute (A2I2) in the Not-For-Profit and Community Solution of the Year category for ‘Ted the AI Avatar Living with Dementia’. The iAwards Program is an innovation recognition program hosted by the Australian Information Industry Association.

‘Ted the AI Avatar’ was developed to enable professional carers to learn how best to communicate with people living with dementia. It is due to be launched to market early in 2021. For inquiries email CDL@dementia.org.au
