Connection to the dementia community:

Lezanne’s Gran had dementia; they were very close when she was young. Lezanne was already studying neuroscience when her Gran received her diagnosis, so she decided to research Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.

Organisation/Affiliation:

University of Wollongong and the Illawarra Health and Medical Research Institute.

Lezanne is an NHMRC Boosting Dementia Research Leadership Fellow and Group Leader of the Neurodevelopment and Neurodegeneration Lab. She established her lab at the University of Wollongong in 2012.. She uses cells from patients to try to understand the changes that occur in diseases like Alzheimer’s disease and to test potential drugs.
