Ms Lynda Henderson
Connection to the dementia community:
Lynda Henderson is the care partner/advocate of someone living with a very rare form of younger onset dementia.
Organisation/Affiliation:
Lynda is a Dementia Advocate with Dementia Australia, a supporter of Dementia Alliance International and a founding member of the Kiama Dementia Advisory Group. She is also a member of the OPAN (Older Persons Advocacy Network) National Reference Group, a representative for OPAN on the Assessment Working Group (a Department of Health project) and a member of the steering group for the Illawarra Dementia Forum.
Lynda’s research interests include supported decision-making, assistive communication technology, environmental design and supports, and relationships-based care.
Lynda and her partner gave evidence to the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety, and have worked with national media to highlight some of the many issues affecting younger people in home/community and residential settings.
Her professional background includes access and equity policy analysis, qualifications design within the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector, workforce development and training, and professional development.
